Tomatoes are here!

I picked a few tomatoes yesterday and Ander loved them! So did we and they were gone before the day was over. There are planty more to pick from the garden today.

Eggplant?

I planted 4 eggplants and 3 of them are getting ruined.

It looks like something is eating the leaves?

But I'm happy to say that one of the plants is doing great and flowering and will have fruit soon.

Full of Beans

We picked some green beans tonight and steamed them. Ander ate them up! They were so tender and sweet, no butter or seasoning was needed.

Melons, Melons, Melons!

I planted watermelon, honeydew and cantaloupe last weekend (7/5/10) and they are already sprouting. I love me some melon!

Scarey

We are trying to grow sweet corn this year. Let's see if the scarecrow works!

Blueberries

We have 2 blueberry bushes that came with the house. Last year, just as the berries were about to ripen, they all disappeared overnight (birds? squirrels?). So this year we placed a net around the bushes and have been eating fresh berries for the past two weeks. They are amazing!

Tomatoes are coming soon!

The tomatoes are close - they just need to ripen. In this picture you can also see how out of control the cucumber vines are. I only planted two seeds and they are actually strangling some of the tomatoes!

This past weekend I planted more green beans, carrots, soy beans, green onions, sugar snap peas, watermelon, honeydo melon and cantalope.

A few weeks ago I planted zuchini, squash, eggplant, sweet peppers and sweet corn. We'll see what works!

First Harvest

Today I picked the first fruits from the garden - cucumbers. Boy were they delicious! I can't wait for the tomatoes!

Berry Picking

We picked some raspberries that were amazing! My son seemed to like them?


I see the first strawberry, but the weeds are growing so quickly I can't keep up with them!

Tomatoes are Flowering!

This year I am trying this black material to keep the weeds from growing too big. Tomatoes should be coming soon...

Crazy for the Strawberries

I planted 50 strawberry plants. I hope to have strawberries rolling in soon! Anyone know how to make strawberry jam or have good strawberry recipes?

Preparing the soil

I wish I took a video of me tilling - I must have looked pretty ridiculous. The tiller worked well, but was difficult to handle! Now the soil is ready for planting (back in May)...
